It's no secret that we are huge fans of the series here at College Times. Season Two of the wildly successful series returned earlier this month on the 5th March and has already gone above and beyond our expectations. So we are only delighted to hear that Derry Girls is getting the industry recognition it deserves with a nomination for a prestigious BAFTA award.
The first episode of Season 2 came back with a bang with the gang going away for a weekend to improve Protestant relations as part of a peace initiative. This bought us that now infamous blackboard scene, where the teenagers listed the differences between Catholics and Protestants. In a laugh out loud moment, the group shouted out some cracking one-liners like Protestants are richer, Catholics go to Bundoran and Protestants go to Newcastle, Protestants keep toasters in cupboards, and Catholics buzz of statues. Season Two has also seen the supporting characters come into their own. Our favourite eye rolling nun Sister Michael and her scathing remarks always make for fantastic entertainment. In this week's episode, she made a surprise appearance at the wake much to the delight of fans of the show. In one particular scene praised by fans of the show on Twitter, Sister Michael is stuck taking to the sinfully boring Uncle Colm and what followed in this simple scene was comedy gold.
As Granda Joe says "When it comes to our Colm, it's every man for himself!"
