It has only been two weeks since Derry Girls season two wrapped up but many of us are already suffering from withdrawals. The 30-minute comedy was one of the highlights of our week. Following the season two finale, it was announced that Derry Girls would return for season three. With no details of filming or a release date, we can only assume that it will be another year before the widely successful series returns for another season. In the meantime, as of next month, we can binge watch all of season one on Netflix.
This will refresh your memory on some of the best moments from Season one when we were first introduced to the gang and their extended families. Classic moments like when Uncle Colm visits for the first time and the whole family lose the will to live or Orla's unlikely obsession with step aerobics.
With this latest Netflix deal, the channel 4 comedy is going from success to success. They were recently nominated for a BAFTA award which will take place Sunday 12th May. Previous winners within the Best Scripted Comedy category have been Black Books, Peep Show, The IT Crowd, making Derry Girls is amongst Channel 4 comedy royalty.
Derry Girls isn't the only exciting thing coming to Netflix in May. On May 3rd, the highly anticipated Ted Bundy Biopic, 'Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile' will be released. Some other film that will be released is the critically acclaimed The Great Gatsby (May 1) and Baby Driver (May 27).
Season one of Derry Girls will be available on Netflix from May 8th. Some many reasons to stay in. We will never leave the house again!
