Electric Picnic Organisers Announce A New Family Friendly Festival

Electric Picnic Organisers Announce A New Family Friendly Festival

Electric Picnic has been growing in size every year and this year is set to be the biggest yet with an increase of 2,500 in the festival's capacity. The tickets for the festival sold out in a record time of 15 minutes last December before any of the acts were released. Headlining this year's festival will be Florence and the Machine, The Strokes, The 1975  and Hozier.

It came as no surprise after this wild success that the organisers of Electric Picnic would be announcing the details of a new three-day festival. Details were announced yesterday and the new three-day camping festival is called Kaleidoscope and is aimed at families. Kaleidoscope is loosely inspired by Little Picnic, the children-friendly area of Electic Picnic.

Kaleidoscope will take place in the grounds of Russborough House in Blessington, Co. Wicklow, from Friday June 28th to Sunday June 30th

The line- up has yet to be announced but there will be six stages featuring international and Irish musicians and DJ's as well as nine stages dedicated to the “spoken word, workshops and inspiration”.

I wouldn't lie, the fact that this is directed at children is a bit of a let down to my childless self but great news for people with families who no longer go to Electric Picnic due to the crowd.

Fear not, if this ones not for you there a still plenty of other great festivals on this Summer.

Electric Picnic and All Together Now have sold out. You can still buy tickets for Forbidden Fruit and Body and Soul.

If you're a comedy fan, the line up for the Kilkenny Cats Laughs Festival were announced this week and the line-up is absolutely class.
