Cate Blanchett and Brie Larson, both lead actress nominees, and Kate Winslet, nominated as supporting actress, were basically the best friends ever at last night's Oscars. The three were pictured having great chats and then embracing, clearly proving that women can in fact be friends and support each other. It's a nice departure from the usual narrative of bitter competition which is woven about actresses.
The three looked like the were having the night of their lives, and for all of them, they probably were. Winslet and Blanchett were probably well aware that they weren't going to win and seeing as they've both won before, we doubt they minded too much. Brie, having won every award in the run up to the Oscars, probably had an inkling that she was going to take home the statue and that she did. Larson scooped the Best Actress award in her first nomination, and clearly her new friends were thrilled!
Do you think they'll let us hang out with them?!
