Not everyday are we treated to another Disney classic but yesterday a giant spoonful of sugar and Mary Poppins landed back into our lives.
A sequel rather than a reboot, the new Mary Poppins Returns trailer reveals a tad bit extra about Mary and the Banks children's new storyline. Mary will return to the Banks children, now adults, to help them reclaim their childhood wonder in the face of adversity.
The star-studded cast includes Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Ben Whishaw, Angela Lansbury, Julie Walters and will herald the welcome return of Dick Van Dyke, now 92, who plays Bert, the chimney sweeper, in the original Mary Poppins.
In less than 24 hours the trailer has been viewed over seven million times and has resulted in a massive hit of nostalgia for fans of the classic. With such an influx of childhood nostalgia, tears are being shed across the globe and when you watch the trailer it's clear why.
Not only does the trailer include legendary Dick Van Dyke, who stars in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Sound of Music, but the sequel has also managed to capture the original magic of Mary Poppins, a feat few imagined was possible without Julie Andrews:

I just watched the trailer for Mary Poppins Returns and my old heart melted when the 2D animation came on. I'm overwhelmed that Disney decided to keep to their roots with this one.
The nostalgia and the pure joy from seeing good old Disney animation nearly got a tear from me.
