We Have Some Good News Any 'New Girl' Fan Will Want To Hear

New Girl is one of those shows you either love or hate. Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel, can be a little bit (OK waaay) too ditzy and naive but one thing we can all agree on is that the show has been super successful and it deserves at least a decent ending. It looked like this wasn't going to be the case, however, we have some great news: New Girl season 7 is happening.

Last week, American networks revealed which shows would be axed or renewed and New Girl was one of the few left in the balance. After some deliberation, Fox shared the good news with fans of the show:

Fans were quick to respond to the update after a painful few days:

Even Nick (Jake Johnson) was excited:

The 7th and final season will be shorter than the typical 22-ish episode seasons we're used to, but even getting that secured was harder than we realised - Deadline has revealed that the show was saved at the eleventh hour.

"I hear creator/executive producer Liz Meriwether made a last-minute call and pitched a final-season arc that turned the tide. I hear it features a time jump, with Season 7 picking up three years after the Season 6 finale, in which Jess (Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) rekindled their romance, Cece (Hannah Simone) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) became expectant parents, and Winston (Lamorne Morris) called his father", Deadline writer Nellie Andreeva wrote.

"I hear Season 7 would feature major milestones for all main characters over the period of one year, including a big one in the series finale", she said.

Apparently, a few of the actors' schedules were making it hard to commit to a full season but the network agreed to eight weeks instead, which made everyone happy.

Thank gawd for that. We cannot wait.
