Niall Horan released his first solo single in September and everyone lost their shit. "This Town" has got a not too shabby 1 million listens on Spotify since its release but let's face it: we want to know if it was about Mullingar or not.
The Co. Westmeath local revealed in a Spotify exclusive that "This Town" is inspired by his hometown and a long-lost love. It's a bit low-key weird to pine for a 12-year-old you used to know, just sayin'.
"A lot of people can relate to it because it's such a relatable song", Niall pointed out, helpfully.
"If you come from a small town, you get that straight away. Every time you go home people are coming from all over the world and you go into the bar and it's like, there's the girl that you fell for when you were 12". Not sure I know how that feels but good on you, lad.
He's clearly yearning for earlier days when he didn't have 12-year-olds following his every move - he wishes he was them.
"You nearly turn yourself into that 12, 13-year-old again by saying a line like 'If the whole world was watching, I'd still dance with you'"

He's one of the true songwriters of our generation. You keep doing you, Niall!
