Pokemon Go took over everyone's life for a couple of months back in 2016. My own abiding memory of it will be waiting to buy a bottle of Fanta in a shop in Naples, and waiting a while to be served. I stood at the till for a good minute and a half watching a very large man called Francesco catch a Squirtle with his phone left on the counter, volume up full blast. When he was done, I was allowed pay him for my Fanta. Pokemon Go has been downloaded over one billion times, so it's fair to say it was a global craze. That could all happen again, as Niantic Games have released a trailer for their long awaited follow up, and they could be onto a winner. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be released tomorrow, Friday June 21st.
The game's website says that fans will be able to "explore real-world neighbourhoods and cities to discover mysterious artefacts, learn to cast spells, and encounter legendary beasts and iconic characters along the way", and then out of nowhere, they've announced that the game will be available this week.
The launch trailer was released yesterday, showing how your phone will essentially become your wand as you take on death eaters, dementors, and find fantastic beasts. A certain famous wizard makes a cameo at the end, just to really ramp up the excitement.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be available on pretty much all mobile devices from tomorrow June 21st.
