In 'How To Train Your Dragon' (2010), we were introduced to Hiccup, a scrawny young boy growing up in a Viking town that's under constant threat from Dragons. The gist of the story is that Hiccup eventually befriends one of the most mysterious dragons, much to the annoyance of his father, who happens to be leader of the town, but they eventually save the day from an evil dragon so everything works out in the end. It's kinda like Spiderman in the way that the little weak kid who can't do anything eventually proves that he can in fact do lots of things, and saves the day from the bad guy, just with dragons.
This all might be coming across as a very cynical view of the film, but I don't mind doing that because it actually is excellent. It's really enjoyable and very funny, and with a lot of work gone into each type of dragon that you can really immerse yourself in the world they live in.
It's all set up nicely for the sequel, where the people of the town work with the dragons, and that's out on the 27th June. There'll also be a review on College Times next Monday.
Now here's the preview trailer to whet the appetite, and just so you know, I'm 21 years old and I can't wait to see it.
