Suddenly we're wishing we were in the music business just so we could be nominated for a Grammy, just so we could lose and get a puppy.
That's what happened when the nominees for Best Comedy Album failed to gain a Grammy - they did one better and got puppies. Very small, very cute puppies.
They’re giving puppies away ?? #grammys

Host James Corden announced that nobody was going home empty handed and the nominees would be in fact, getting a canine substitute.

Assistants proceeded to hand puppies out to Sarah Silverman, Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Gaffigan who looked thrilled as did guests who were sitting nearby, including Anna Kendrick.
One of consolation puppies just got walked past me so the night is pretty much downhill from here. #GRAMMYs

However, a few members of the Twitter community thought it was in poor taste and had concerned for the animals' safety.
Hey #GRAMMYs where did those puppies come from? Full disclosure pls. Just in case you're not aware, puppy mills breed misery. Promoting adoption is a much more compassionate message to send music lovers. #AdoptDontShop

Very disappointed that the #GRAMMYs chose to gift puppies as a joke. Animals are not toys. #AdoptDontBuy

@GMB @PeterEgan6 horrified to see #grammys giving puppies as consolation prizes!! They aren't prizes. How is that any different to giving a puppy for Xmas? U doing all the education done over recent years ?

What happened to the puppies given out as 'consolation prizes' at the #GRAMMYs? It's appalling! These are LIVING CREATURES not an inanimate toy! I hope they are okay and getting well looked after. It must have been terrifying for them in the noise and crowds. ???

Others were raging they weren't Grammy losers.
I’m pretty sure “consolation puppies” should be mandatory for all disappointing situations in life. #Grammys

Sting/Shaggy performance? #grammys— Kaitlin (@the_kaits_meow) January 29, 2018
We just want to reinforce that dogs are for life and not for Christmas and if it's a choice between the Grammy or the puppy, we want the puppy.
