In the late noughties, two teen shows rattled our cages. Focusing on secrets, lies, and betrayal Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars created the malevolent and mysterious figures A and Gossip Girl and we couldn't get enough.
Basically, a reboot of Cruel Intentions, Gossip Girl (2007) dealt with the complicated lives of Manhattan teen socialites and particularly a website called 'Gossip Girl' whose founder is obsessed with "it" girl Serena Van Der Woodsen (Blake Lively).
Often considered the lesser version of Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars (2010) shares the story of high school students Aria, Hannah, Emily, and Spencer as they try to live their lives under the watchful eyes of A, an unknown hooded figure who blackmails and tortures the teenage girls.
It was the mystery of A that kept PLL on the air for over seven seasons, much to the frustration of fans. On the other hand, Gossip Girl gracefully bowed out after its sixth season. With such memorable lines can you remember which villain said what? :
