The Craft Is Just One Of Five Remakes We're Living For

Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Dumbo are just two of our recent childhood faves that have been giving the reboot treatment. Although remakes and sequels aren't always the best, there are five remakes we can't wait to see in the near future:

1. The Golden Compass

Although full of Oscar-winning actors such as Nicole Kidman, the original GC wasn't a huge hit at the box office and meant further sequels were out of the picture.

The original was too much for audiences to dissect in one two hour special so now the BBC, it truly is the golden age of television, is planning on creating the entire book into a TV series - a format we approve of considering the length and depth of the His Dark Materials trilogy.

Shooting for the series has already begun and James Mc Evoy is set to play the protagonists father so we can expect to see the first season sometime in 2019.

2. Sweet Home Alabama 2

A forgotten classic, Sweet Home Alabama stars Reese Witherspoon as a successful designer who moves away from country life and her marriage to live in the city. Both Witherspoon and Josh Lucas, who plays her onscreen husband, have recently spoken about their desire for a sequel.

Lucas thinks it would be great to have the pair divorce AGAIN after having children together, only to be once again reunited, as if love was their destiny all along.

So, it's only a matter of time before we get to hear 'Sweet Home Alabama' on the big screen again.

3. The Craft

A '90s classic, The Craft deals with four teenagers who invoke the devil in order to possess magical abilities. Although the original is a cult classic, a remake in the post-digital world means that Nancy & Co could get into some serious situations and with witches having a renaissance it's no surprise studio heads are looking at old gems.

Sony Pictures announced the remake in 2016 but we're yet to hear of official cast members or filming dates.

4. The Witches

The Witches terrified everyone back in the '90s. A sensational performance by Angelic Houston as Grand High Witch, The Witches was one of the few movies to make witches look, well, like witches.

It looks like Roald Dahl's terrifying masterpiece is getting another go at box office success as fantasy Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro is on board and Robert Zemeckis will direct, the man behind Back To The Future. This time there won't be a happy ending.

5. Legally Blonde 3

Elle Woods is coming back and it'll Reese Witherspoon's second sequel on this list. This time Witherspoon will star and produce alongside most of the original cast to bring back the bend and snap. Last time we saw Elle she had her sights on taking her place in the White House so we imagine Elle just might be the first female President in Legally Blonde 3 and, to be honest, we're here for it.
