Welcome back to The Rent Vent, the series that helps students try to navigate housing in Ireland. This week NUI Galway student Niamh brought us to a house viewing.
Niamh was in control of our Twitter and brought us to a potential house she could live in next year. As with a lot of students these days, a lot of the time it's essential to begin looking for somewhere to live for the year before summer even begins. If you're wondering when's the right time to begin looking, it should be as soon as possible.
Niamh gave us some information about her experience at the house viewing and of course, some tips and tricks along the way.
She started in the only way possible, by making it known she was on the hunt
Hey Everyone, Niamh here from CollegeTimes. Anyone here from NUIG & want to help me find a place to stay for next year? #dontwanttobealone pic.twitter.com/SeU1uHWYnA

She then told us a few tips you should always follow

Niamh was super-lucky and seemed to be happy with the house
So update! Emily and I are thinking of taking this house?! I just have to see it first! Unfortunately our other mate dropped out🤦🏼♀️

In the end, Niamh was lucky enough to secure the house and will be moving in for her next year at college. She beat a group of medical students to it, as she and Emily had enough to put down a deposit at the time. The house is in a great location and is only a five-minute walk away from her college – happy days! It seems that if you come prepared to a viewing, you'll have a better chance at securing accommodation.
