12 Of The Best Live Lounge Covers

BBC Radio 1's live lounge, hosted by Fearne Cotton and previously by Jo Whiley, features some of the best up and coming and established stars in the world performing covers of their favourite songs. Sometimes artists bomb (Cheryl Cole) but occasionally you get to see a song you love performed in a weird or quirky way.

Here are a few of our favourites... Some quality listening

The Noisettes - When You We're Young (The Killers)

English indie rock band The Noisettes perform the The Killers massive hit, throw in a few violins and a tambourine or two and you have arguably a better version then the original.

Ben Howard - Call Me Maybe (Carly Rae Jepsen)

British singer songwriter Ben Howard playfully covers the mega hit Call Me Maybe. It's waaaay better then the original!

Gabrielle Aplin - Best Song Ever (One Direction)

Featuring backing vocals from Irish duo Harry and Alfie from band Hudson Taylor, Garbrielle Aplin nails One Directions 'Best Song Ever', a case of making a bad song good with some quality talent.

Rizzle Kicks - Summertime Sadness (Lana Del Rey)

The cheeky duo cover Lana's song with their usual pep and spirit. Makes a serious change from her somewhat downtrodden original.

Plan B & Faith SFX - Pass Out (Tinie Tempah)

From a couple of years ago, Plan B teams up with expert beat boxer Faith SFX on a reggae remix of Tinie Tempah.

Bastille - Locked Out Of Heaven Medley (Bruno Mars)

One of 2013's breakthrough bands mix and mash a few gems flawlessly including Niggas In Paris and Bruno Mars...

Arctic Monkeys - We're Going Home (Drake)

Song of the moment, Drake's 'We're Going Home' is covered by the frontman Alex Turner.

Usher - Pumped Up Kicks (Foster The People)

This one's pretty hit or miss, you'll love it or hate it, Usher shows off his bass playing skills and rocks out.

Maverick Sabre - Beautiful Girls (Sean Kingston)

Had to include Irish man Maverick Sabre, his reggae-ish cover of Beautiful girls / stand by me is quality. Make sure you check out more of his stuff.

Queens Of The Stone Age - Blurred Lines (Robin Thicke)

The first of the 'Blurred Lines' covers, this summer it's been covered by a whole host of artists in the Live Lounge. QOTSA, who clearly had never heard the song before rocked a trad deep south version of the huge hit.
