Just like Kylie Jenner announced in 2016, 2017 was another year of realising stuff and it was as turbulent, heartbreaking and hilarious as 2016. 2. Salt BAE

Salt bae was the name given to Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe by social media users after a video went viral of the chef flamboyantly salting some meat. We're still waiting on the emoji:

4. Adele Gave Beyoncé Her Grammy

In an unrecorded scene that was reminiscent of Mean Girls, Adele broke the Grammy in half to give a piece to Beyoncé after winning Album of The Year with 25 - which few expected to win over Beyoncé's critically acclaimed Lemonade. 5. La La Land Moonlight Won Best Picture At The Oscars

Despacito fever swept the country in 2017 when Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee collaborated with Justin Bieber. So much so, a group of Irish teenagers recreated the modern day song as Gaeilge:

After the tragic bombings that murdered 22 innocent civilians and injured hundreds more at an Ariana Grande concert nobody would blame Ariana for wanting to shy away from the public eye. 2017 gave a voice to millions of people around the world. The #metoo movement began on Twitter with stories from women and men about sexual abuse taking place in Hollywood from well-known figures such as Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Louis CK. The Oireachtas committee, a group of TDs and Senators, recommended that the Eighth Amendment - the constitutional law that forbids women from terminating their pregnancies on Irish soul unless their health is at risk - should be repealed in favour of 14 to 2 votes.
