It is a situation we've all faced and have all, without fail, come up against the same universal problem. Perhaps you have been trying to send a message to a friend to say "Big question, Urban VI or Sixtus V, who's is your favourite? #PopesRDope" or "Just ordered 6 Pope John Paul II commemorative scarves. Lol #PopeLyf" or "Just been forcefully removed from the basilica by the Swiss Guard, no Pope for me! #PopePo" and then, when perusing which selection of emojis you will use to adorn your message, you come to the staggering realisation - there is no Pope emoji. There is no Pope emoji. There is. No. Pope. Emoji?
There was no Pope Emoji. For this situation is to be rectified. Twitter have come to our salvation They have heard the fervour with which we have been bellowing our demands, have heeded the lust that wracks our cries and are set to release a Pope emoji on Tuesday. Hallelujah.
The emoji is to honour the upcoming visit of Pope Francis' visit to Ireland. The emoji can be generated on Twitter by using any of a number of hashtags including #PopeInIreland, #WMOF2018, #FestivalOfFamilies and, what I think we can all agree is the greatest of them all, #PápaInÉirinn.

Twitter's director of public policy for Europe, Karen White, described that seeing as the visit of Pope Francis is set to be one of the biggest events in Ireland this year, it is only natural that they create a specific emoji in anticipation of how much online conversation there will be over the course of his visit. "Naturally many people will be using Twitter to discuss his time here. We want to encourage everyone across the world to join the conversation on Twitter about his visit to Ireland so we've created this special emoji for people to use," she said.
