College is like anything in life: there's expectations, and then there's reality. Sometimes reality can hit you pretty hard when you're a new college student, so we at College Times have come up with a list of expectations you may have of college life, versus what actually happens.
Here we go...
Expectation: Getting on the lash every night at a new college party
Reality: A few parties but a lot of people actually want to study
Expectation: Getting a part time job, fitting it in with studying, and using the cash to travel

Reality: None of that. Poor 4eva
Expectation: Making so many new friends
Reality: Finding it pretty hard to make new friends because you don't always share the same classes

Expectation: College subjects will be a breeeeze, your brother said so
Reality: It's actually hard af and you need to concentrate
Expectation: Doing your own laundry in a fun laundromat

Reality: Forgetting to do laundry then struggling with your huge basket. Then needing to babysit it at 11pm on a Saturday night
Expectation: Ditching class to drink or go shopping with your new college besties
Reality: Ditching class and missing something important and/or your tutor being very pissed off at you

Expectation: Sleeping in every day
Reality: 8am Monday morning lectures
Expectation: Your student accom will be decked out in super cute Penneys stuff
Reality: Nope. It's like a shoebox and you never clean it. Tbh you don't know if there's a floor

Expectation: Looking ~amazing~ every day - no uniforms!
Reality: You give up on that after week two. Warmth > fashion

Expectation: Heaps of hot, older students
Reality: Nope.
Expectation: Diner-style food like in America! All you can eat and more.
Reality: If you get there early, there's a line... and if you get there late there's nothing left. So you have to eat pizza again

Expectation: I'm gonna use the college gym every day before and after class
Reality: I will never use the college gym
