Celebrations erupted across Australia as the country voted to legalise same-sex marriage. The two-month national postal survey resulted in 61% of people voting yes to same-sex marriage. Melbourne exploded in rainbow coloured elation as hundreds of people gathered in the city to hear the announcement that has been a long time coming.
Meanwhile, celebrities took to Twitter to share their delight over the outcome.

Finally equality in Australia. Shameful that the government forced its citizens to beg, plead and compete for what is a basic human right. 60% of the country voted YES. Thank you and congratulations.
