In news that will surely surprise no one, the weather that everyone has been saying will be very bad has arrived and is very bad. So bad in fact that those weather-loving fiends over at Met Éireann have issued a status red weather warning.
The warning applies to most Eastern counties, with the majority of the country still remaining on an orange warning.

Location: Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wicklow and Meath
Valid: Wed 5am to Thurs 12pm

- UCD- Closed today, tomorrow.
- IADT - Closed today, tomorrow, Friday.
- DCU- Closed today.
- MU - Closed today.
- ITB- Closed today.
- ITT- Closed today.
- WIT Closed today.
- Carlow IT- Exams & Classes in Carlow & Wexford campuses today are postponed. Wicklow Campus is closed today.
- DIT to close from mid-day today.
- DKIT -Closed while red weather warning in place.

Many schools across the country have announced that they will close today too, with closures being announced on an individual local level. Dublin Bus have announced that due to the snow there will be "severe disruptions to services". Given that during even perfectly pleasant weather their services still contrive to be utterly deranged, their warning can roughly be translated to 'all is umbridled chaos aboard the buses.'
