With approximately 38,000 students having accepted places in Third Level institutions this year between Round Zero and Round One offers there are still a sizeable portion of the 74,657 students who applied through the CAO who have yet to accept a place in a course, or to receive an offer for one.
Well, hopefully for many of the some 2,700 students expected to be offered Round Two places today, they will be able to accept a place on their dream course.
These CAO Round 2 offers have been made available to students on the CAO's website. They can be viewed by logging onto the 'My Application' portal on the CAO website - applicants who've opted to be notified by SMS or email will receive a notification alerting them that an offer has been made to them.
The deadline for the acceptance of Round 2 offers is this Friday, August 30th, at 5.15pm so students have a comparatively short amount of time to decide whether they ought to accept the offer they've been given.
However, it's important to stress that the majority of students who received an offer today should be advised to consider it as their final offer and not count on being offered a place during the Round Three offers, which will be released on 6th September. Though this may happen, the number of places offered will most likely only number in the hundreds, as such the CAO urges students to comprehensively consider their options at this stage.

The CAO communications offiver, Eileen Keleghan, speaking to The Irish Times said "Many of the applicants receiving Round 2 offers today may have already accepted an offer in Round One, and it is important that they take the time to decide between these courses and inform CAO before the reply date of this Friday, 30 August at 5:15pm if they wish to accept the new offer."
Students are advised that should they accept a new offer it will automatically cancel their previous offer, should they've accepted the previous one. However, of the approximately 2,700 students receiving an offer today, some 900 are receiving one for the first time.
