An Ulster Bank communion survey has revealed the child communion costs and it's expensive as you think. Parents are now spending, on average, nearly 900 euro per child.
The cost of a child's communion has risen annually in the last number of years. An after church party is up 5 percent from last year with the average cost coming in at €388. A child's outfit for the day is also up 5% and on average costs €185.
Family members are spending less on themselves to facilitate the costs with a 27 percent price drop on the average outfit.
Although entertainment was surveyed at costing €78 it has dropped by 48 percent. Hairdressing costs have also dropped by 27 percent.

Children receive nearly €600 in gifts with over 13 percent raking in over a €1,000. Much like the work wage gap, boys are getting nearly €50 more on average at €591 to €550.
85 percent of the parents surveyed indicated that the amount of money the child is gifted will go into their savings for future expenses.
