It's no myth that energy drinks are highly addictive. In a bid to curb young peoples appetite for energy drinks, Aldi is to ban the sale of energy drinks to under 16s.

Aldi will become the first retailer in Ireland to restrict the sale to children. ID will be required to buy the energy drinks. The high-caffeine soft drinks will require proof of age from the first of March in its 130 stores.

A report by the Safe Food Authority examined the side effects of high caffeine stimulating drinks and championed label changes that will require drinks to be labeled "high caffeine content".
