Dundalk IT announced their Sanctuary Scholarship which covers the full tuition fee waiver for an International protection applicant or those granted international protection.
This includes asylum seekers, individuals who have been granted Discretionary Leave to Remain (DLR), or some other form of temporary status.
A maximum of one scholarship will be awarded per academic year and the DkIT Scheme will be reviewed annually. In each year, the Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of CAO points.
DkIT Sanctuary Scholarship Criteria
According to DkIT, the Sanctuary Scholarship is targeted at first-time higher education applicants. It is aimed at those who live in local Direct Provision centres in Dundalk, Drogheda or Monaghan.
It is targeted at those applying through the CAO as a Leaving Cert applicant for a full-time undergraduate programme.

Applicants must take up a place that advertises 'available places' in the year of entry at DkIT. They should not be currently eligible to receive other mainstream support funding. This includes the SUSI grant and Pilot Student Support Scheme.
They should not be in receipt of any other scholarship or grant to receive the Sanctuary Scholarship.
Under the Pilot Student Support Scheme, those living in Direct Provision are eligible for a grant to study at third level if they have been in the Irish education system for three years.
The closing date for applications for the DkIT Sanctuary Scholarship is 28th August.
