Last night's Primetime debate, the last before Friday's referendum on the Eighth Amendment, was trending on Twitter this morning because of one man - Simon Harris.
Harris, a Yes voter and Ireland's current Minister for Health and member of Fine Gael, debated against Sinn Féin TD Peadar Tóibín and an audience that included the public, obstetricians, GPs, and lawyers. It became clear that after Harris began to debate his point, a cosmic shift began to happen in living rooms across the country:
The only Trump/Brexit surprise outcome in this referendum is going to be the fact that the nation fancies Simon Harris now.

The moment Harris solidified himself as a sex symbol was his classy but sassy response to No voters about abortion on mental health grounds:
Simon Harris refusing to allow mental health stigmatisation during the #rtept debate is incredible. Thank you Minister! #together4yes

One of the many times Simon Harris was excellent on #rtept tonight.
No wonder David Quinn & John McGuirk are freaking out. #8thref #Repealthe8th pic.twitter.com/jdNwxHAn2F— Daithi K. (@tvcritics) May 22, 2018
And when he called the No campaigners out for wanting to maintain the status quo rather than change it there wasn't a dry seat left in Ireland:
“The tactic here is you recognize the majority of people in this country want change, so you’re trying to suggest that there’s some better change...you need to tell them the truth. You wouldn’t back any change.” @SimonHarrisTD #rtept #repealthe8th #together4yes pic.twitter.com/UcQ3B0TzPu

Harris gained a number of fans for his ability to deal with the questions from the No side and by supporting women who battle mental health problems but have been demonized by No campaigners since the campaign began:
"you say abortion on demand, but there is always a reason" Simon Harris grew a spine and I am Here for it

"To suggest that mental illness is not as serious as physical illness"... I feel as if I'm seeing Simon Harris for the first time ? #rtept

Some fans of the Health Minister are angry that it's only now the thirst is real for him when his potential to cause a drought was always a possibility:
I have been thirsting for Simon Harris since day one . When u all called him a vampire . I stood by him . And now u all want him ? Pathetic !!!!!

Others are expecting Simon to be able to solve all social, economic and political issues in the future which translates to Simon running for Taoiseach or President in the near future.
Simon Harris is only short of getting our 6 counties back after that debate #SimonHarris #rtept #TogetherForYes
