"Go home" - that's basically what the Government is saying with their latest plan to boost hundreds of Irish country towns. There's no denying thousands of people every year leave their culchie towns for the big smoke, and it's seriously affecting those left behind. So the government has come up with a plan: invest €60 million into rural Ireland. They basically want us to embrace being culchies.
The 'Realising our Rural Potential' plan is to put a huge focus on protecting schools in rural communities, as well as commercial rates that destroy small businesses, fixing bad mobile phone reception and increasing flights to Cork and Shannon airports, reports Independent.ie

It won't be long before being a culchie could be considered a good thing either: the scheme is due to roll out by September.
The plan, obtained by the Irish Independent, will be unveiled today by the Taoiseach and ministers from the Department of Rural Affairs, Heather Humphreys and Michael Ring.
Mr Kenny is expected to tell the press in Longford that the Government wants 12% tourists coming to Ireland and 135,000 new jobs in rural Ireland by 2020.
Sounds like a good plan, actually.
Would you go home if there were improvements to the quality of life and resources?
