If you've ever lost something in a cab you'll know that sinking feeling you get once you realise your stupidity. Now imagine you were a PhD student and all of your notes and your laptop were left behind - that's what happened to Jamal Sul on a night out in Dublin. But what happened next isn't exactly ordinary...JK Rowling was involved. Yes, THE JK Rowling.
Jamal posted a plea for help on Facebook after realising his devastating mistake which was then spotted by Harry Potter author and all round amazing human JK Rowling. She knows the power of her words and the extent of her reach so she did Jamal a solid and tweeted his story to the masses:
One of my worst nightmares has happened to this poor man. RT to help! pic.twitter.com/lZr3aj2zGR
— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) May 11, 2017
Sadly, at the time of writing Jamal hasn't found his stuff but that doesn't mean we should give up hope.

JK's tweet has 7.9k retweets so far, along with 1.3k shares on Facebook, so the chances of getting it back are so much higher than that one time I left my phone in a cab and no one cared.
Best of luck, Jamal! And if you've seen a rogue laptop bag with intricate notes you don't understand, they're not yours and you should inbox Jamal ASAP.
