Pointy faced harridan-for-hire Katie Hopkins is to appear on this week's Late Late Show. On Friday the controversial Daily Mail columnist and agent provocateur will be making her third appearance across from Ryan Tubridy since 2014.
The right-wing pundit is a controversial figure due to her habit of being horrible, belligerent and making calculated, outrageous statements. She's essentially a novelty act like Jedward, but her schtick is foam-at-the-mouth bigotry rather than stupid hair.
Understandably there's a lot backlash against RTE's decision to book Hopkins, and an online protest campaign has formed and is appealing to the national broadcaster to cancel Hopkin's appearance

For the easily confused: not watching the Late Late when Katie Hopkins is on isn’t an impingement of free speech, it’s a channel change.

Hopkins is possibly the worst possible person to have on the Late Late Show in light of Trump's victory in the US yesterday. Though her bile is certainly performative, it still tacitly legitimises the thoughts of people who genuinely hold such bigoted thoughts.
Giving right-wing mouthpieces a legitimate platform at the moment is a huge misstep on RTE's part and could potentially cause a lot of harm. If you would like to challenge their decision then email a complaint to [email protected]
