We've all been there: no wallet, no money and no phone but desperate to get home in one piece. Luckily this will be a thing of the past now thanks to a super smart app that allows Irish students to get home safely even if they don't have anything with them. The Project Dash taxi app went live in Cork today and was designed by NUI Galway students.
Project Dash (Driving All Students Home) was started last year as a project to keep students safe, said creator Richie Commins said. "I went on placement in NUIG and designed software to get us home in taxis with no phone, no cash and no bank card.
"We got hundreds of students to test the concept with 3 local taxi companies. One thing led to another and thousands of drivers around the country are now ready to use Dash ahead of the service launching"
So how can you use this app? Well, you can sign up here, then add a photo of yourself and method of payment. Once you're in a cab, you tell the driver you have 'Dash' and tell them your name and PIN. Easy.
