Lads, this is the saddest story you'll read so far this year: Tilikum, the whale from the critically-acclaimed documentary 'Blackfish' has died today.
Tilikum's plight sent shockwaves across the world in 2013 when Blackfish exposed Seaworld for their treatment of whales and other marine life. Many boycotted Seaworld since the documentary aired but they never released their former star attraction Tilikum.
It's been announced the orca whale died in captivity at age 36 (approx). In captivity, orca whales can live to be 60+, so it's devastating to know lil' Tilikum's life could've been much different if it weren't for greedy bastards.
USAToday reports Seaworld said he died surrounded by trainers, care staff and veterinarians. Yes because he would've loved that :(
A cause of death is yet to be determined but vets had been treating him for a "persistent and complicated bacterial lung infection," according to Seaworld.
