Gardaí in Swords discovered a shebeen in a private industrial estate on Saturday night, with multiple persons present. The bar – which was fully equipped with kegs, taps, bar stools and cash machines – was promptly shut down by the Gardaí.

According to RTÉ, the premises were raided as part of an investigation into breaches of liquor licensing regulations, with Gardaí arriving at around 10pm on Saturday night. They found “a number” of people present in the bar, who were presented with a fixed notice fine for breaching COVID-19 regulations.

The official account of the Gardaí on Twitter added that a report file on the case was being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
In a further statement, the Gardaí implored the public to continue to abide by COVID-19 restrictions “in order to save lives.”
