UCD Men's Hockey Club issued an apology on Sunday night regarding offensive posts which had appeared on the club's Instagram account a day previous.
"UCD Mens Hockey Club would like to unreservedly apologize for posts and related comments on social media this weekend," reads the apology.
"The references made on the official Instagram page were completely unacceptable, and do not represent the character of the club.
"Those directly affected by derogatory comments made have been personally contacted and apologized to. The public comments were not made with insidious intentions, but we acknowledge and accept that they were absolutely out of order.
"Internal disciplinary action is being taken."

The posts appeared on the Instagram account on Saturday following the club's 3-2 win against Corinthians. According to the University Observer, they were aimed at a Corinthians player and his wife.
The first post referred to the player as a "pussy" and added that "you've let your rig go". Another post featuring a poll was targeted at the player's wife. Followers were asked to decide if a picture of a man's bum crack was the Grand Canyon or the player's wife.
The posts have since been deleted.
