Wet Christmas: Met Éireann Issue New Weather Warning For 7 Counties

There won't be snow in Ballinrobe, this Christmas. The greatest gift they'll get this year is a spot of drying.

A wet and windy Christmas is in store for the western half of the country, at least, as Met Éireann have issued a yellow rainfall warning for all of Connacht, Donegal and Clare this morning.

Having already posted a Christmas Day weather advisory for all of Munster and Leinster last night, this morning's forecast is for 25-35mm of rain in the previously mentioned counties, between 10am today and 7am on Christmas morning.

A weather advisory, for those who don't know (i.e. me), is issued ahead of a potential warning.

They have also issued a gale warning for the western coastal waters, saying 'Southwest winds will reach gale force at times today on Irish coastal waters from Valentia to Erris Head to Malin Head.'

Santa will be destroying the good carpet with his wet boots, by the sound of it!
