A few days away is often needed to take the edge off daily life and Ireland has loads of cool places that are just begging for some company. Here's why you need to get going on organising a trip to the gorgeous Antrim.

1) The Glens of Antrim

The best trip starts en route to your destination doesn't it?! The 9 glens are worth some serious attention and are easily accessible. Famed in song and story, explore the woods, waterfalls and forest parks and take loads of pictures of one of the world's most famous landscapes.

2) It's home to Game of Thrones

The fantasy series that no one's ever heard of was filmed in a few locations in Antrim ya know! Its spots include The Dark Hedges (Magheramore Quarry), Castle Black (the home of the Night's Watch) or Shanes Castle, where Gregor Clegane beheads a horse was filmed.

3) Carrick-a-rede-Rope Bridge

Open all year round, the world famous rope bridge will sway just enough to keep you on your toes when walking across it! You will be awarded with views so stunning, you won't need to need filter any of your Instagram shots. Don't forget good walking shoes.

4) The Craic

If you've built up a thirst on your journey or just fancy seeing what bars Antrim has to offer, you won't be short of choice. McCollam's is known as the liveliest (known locally as Johnny Joe's) and if you're a Guinness head, check out O'Connor's Bar which is famed for serving the best Guinness in the whole land (of North Antrim anyway).

5) Rathlin Island

This Island off the coast of Antrim is has all the scuba divers flocking to it for its many ship wrecks. Anyone who just wants to stay on dry land can wander at the gorgeous wildlife - there's a bird sanctuary if people are interested - and getting to the Island is easy as the ferry leaves Ballycastle many times a day. Have an oul drink in McCuaig's Bar when you get there.

6) Old Bushmills Distillery

Pop into Ireland's oldest working distillery (bit of history for you there), on your travels. Just don't get carried away 'sampling' all the award-winning whiskey!

7) Giant's Causeway

Yes, yes its a bit of a tourist trap but you'd be a mad to go to Antrim without having a goo at this famous landmark.
