The Internet went into meltdown Sunday night when the Twelfth Doctor was announced to be Peter Capaldi. Nearly ninety percent of tweets during the once-off show on BBC One mentioned either #doctorwho or #petercapaldi. Before Doctor Who though, the Scot was probably best known for his part as Malcolm Tucker in the comedy series The Thick Of It.
It didn't take long a couple of days for a clever fan to take the swearing, oft-furious spin doctor and mash him up with Doctor Who. The results are hilarious.
We're sure Steven Moffat won't be giving The Doctor a bolder, more crass side to his personality, but it does raise the question of whether Capaldi can be taken seriously in the role when viewers are so used to seeing him shout "fucking c***" every other line. Could you imagine The Doctor giving it socks to the Daleks by just shouting a load of obscenities at them?
