The Black Eyes Peas' Malaysian concert, in celebration of Guinness’s 250th anniversary, causes some controversy when it is revealed to be a strictly non-Muslim event due to religious beliefs.

Celebrity disc jockey, DJ AM is found dead in his hotel room from a drug overdose of cocaine. It is later found that several other drugs were found in his system after a toxicology report is conducted.

English indie group The XX release their debut album XX to critical acclaim, reaching the top 20 of the Irish, UK and US album charts.

Whitney Houston releases what would be her final studio album I Look To You before her death from an accidental drowning three years later. The album although well received by critics, displayed a much weaker vocal performance by Houston. It went on to chart at No. 1 in the US and several other countries worldwide.
