Las Vegas band The Killers decided to honour the prestigious music tradition associated with Wembley during their live concert, by performing a brand new track dedicated to the famous stadium last Saturday night.
The song drew applause from the crowd as lead singer Brandon Flowers rattled off a list of artists who have performed in the stadium over the years, including Bruce ‘The Boss’ Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac, Genesis, even boyband Take That got a mention.
The band even threw some light hearted humour into the mix with a dig at the hapless George Michaels telling the Brit to “stay away from cars”. He should probably heed their warning for the time being.
A little sentimentality was ensured as Flowers sang about the bands growth from a small Las Vegas band, to performing in a stadium that reads like a Hall of Fame of past performers, proof of their success as a live band.

Flowers even took the time to apologise to Green Day for comments he made about the band several years ago which resulted in a spat after he slammed them in an interview saying, "You have Green Day and 'American Idiot'. Where do they film their DVD? In England. A bunch of kids screaming 'I don't want to be an American idiot' I saw it as a very negative thing towards Americans. It really lit a fire in me.”
To be fair, he kind of has a point. To hear the song check out the video below and the band will be playing the Phoenix Park this July as part of a trio of live concerts to take place on the founds this summer.
