We're big fans of Saoirse Ronan here at College Times.
And it's not just because of her class acting talent and down-to-earth personality. No, we love Saoirse because much like the rest of us who have an Irish name, she has great difficulty trying to explain its correct pronunciation to people who don't hail from Ireland.
She's taken on the challenge in recent years and it's something that's often brought up in interviews - 'it's pronounced Sur-sha.'
The award-winning actress took on the impossible yet again this weekend, when she hosted Saturday Night Live. In her opening monologue, with her own unique song and the addition of some SNL regular, she tried to teach the audience how to pronounce her first name.
As well as making reference to the 'Irish goodbye', she jokes: 'I have a very Irish name, too Irish some might say. It's spelt wrong - it's a full typo.'
