Just when you thought winter was about to come for the last time, HBO have thrown us a doozy after their programming president, Casey Bloys, confirmed that they are in talks about the idea of a Game of Thrones prequel, once the actual series has ended.
Speaking to The Wrap, Bloys said:
We’ve talked very, very kind of high-level, like, ‘Oh, that would be interesting, a prequel would be interesting, are there areas that make more sense?
He added that HBO would be 'crazy' not to at least consider the idea, given that it is 'such a great world and such a great property.'

The show is scheduled to end after the next two seasons but given the appetite, there's no doubt that there could be huge interest in another Westeros based offering. You'd wonder, however, what the storylines could be based around, given that we've kind of learned most of what's happened in the past, as we've journeyed through the present. I'm sure they could think of something to keep us on hook.
When you look at the likes of the Harry Potter series and the current success of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, it's easy to why HBO would be eager to keep their biggest cash-cow going. While nothing is set in stone just yet, the wheels are definitely in motion.
