Two adult humans have decided to pledge their love for another in a culturally understood ritual. "But why ought I to care? Surely this happens all the time?" I hear you wail, pounding at your smartphone with barely concealed frustration. Well, these two people are famous, hence we are, as a contemporary human in Western civilisation, obligated to care, and I, am contractually compelled to write about it.
Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, off of Game of Thrones - the show which is single-handedly trying to bring back the 'jerkin' as a viable fashion piece - are engaged. The actors, who play Jon Snow and Ygritte on the show, announced their engagement in the Times newspaper yesterday with rumours already circulating beforehand. The notice of their engagement read: “The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire.”
Fans will be thrilled to hear the news, unless they're the sort of odd deeply-possessive fan who erroneously believe that they may actually at some point end up with one of the actors in question. They revealed that they had been seeing each other in 2016, but kept details of their relationship closely guarded.
