16 Of The Most Hilariously Irish Reactions To Storm Ophelia

As Ophelia begins to batter these shores the severity of the storm will soon become clear to all. We are not here to in anyway attempt to make light of, or undermine, the danger of what promises to be a truly terrifying weather event, we are merely here to compile examples of you doing exactly that.

It's good to know that in times of legitimate national crisis we, as a nation, while being plied with advice and warnings that there is a fan somewhere about to get absolutely doused in shit, we will simply smirk and fire off some wry Tweet about the whole thing.

That said, it gives a rather worrying insight into the Irish psyche that we seem willing to laugh off the warnings of meteorologists about the storm, dismissing them as slightly 'over-reacting', but as soon as Dunnes and Penney's announce that they will be closed for the day we suddenly all start freaking out and lunging for the candles and bottled water.

Anyway, stay safe. Stay indoors, keep yourselves amused and keep something heavy within arms reach in case any of your pesky neighbours begin to make eyes on some of your precious stockpiled, canned goods.
