In Ireland we have a remarkable ability to simultaneously overreact while also not taking the situation seriously enough.
This Storm Ophelia is a perfect example of that. Hurricane strength winds are imminent but last night was, as Gerry McBride put it on Twitter, like the Toy Show and Eurovision rolled into one.
But the irony of the whole thing was that the funniest tweet sent out in advance of the storm was one that was a deadly serious one.
The official DCU Twitter account appeared to get very confused with Leo Varadkar's tweet saying that schools and colleges would be closed on Monday.
