When a well-known Journalist tweets a message beginning with 'You Irish...', people are going to have something to say about it.
Social media has erupted after Sky News presenter Adam Boulton posted a message which said that Irish people need to 'get over themselves' after he was criticised for an interview he conducted with Tánaiste and Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney.
Bored now. Some of you Irish need to get over yourselves. Interviewing is about challenging the interviewee not respecting.
— Adam Boulton (@adamboultonSKY) December 9, 2017
On Friday, Boulton asked Coveney if he felt guilty over Ireland’s approach to Brexit negotiations. “Do you think that this week’s kerfuffle has been necessary? Do you feel slightly guilty that perhaps the Irish government over-briefed what had been achieved as a victory over the British for the European Union?,” Boulton asked Coveney.
Some people weren't happy with the presenter's line of questioning and he issued the 'You Irish..' tweet in response. Naturally, his choice of words didn't go down to well with people, provoking a strong reaction on twitter.

The greatest interviewers always show respect to their interviewees @adamboultonSKY Even when challenging them. That’s the difference I suppose.

Challenging an interviewee is your job - but maybe an issue pertinent to the Good Friday Agreement deserves a rather more serious term than "kerfuffle"?

Can't let this go, Adam I thought were intelligent but boy did I get it wrong

Adam, as unofficial spokesperson for "you Irish" I'd like to apologise for the behaviour of my countrymen. From now on we'll applaud imperious, small-minded hectoring of us Irish by heavyweight analysts such as yourself.

Can you ever imagine a world where this Boulton mess would tweet out “Some of you Jews need to get over yourselves”?
Nawh, us neither.— Winter WonderLAD (@LADFLEG) December 10, 2017
Usual British latent racism towards the Irish. It is ALWAYS there just beneath the surface.

“You Irish....” charming. I think we Irish have exercised a great deal of restraint in the past couple of weeks in the face of old-colonial style comment about Ireland (as well as incredibly stupid ill-informed comment) thought Coveney acquitted himself v well in that interview

“Some of you Irish”? @adamboultonSKY doing his best Cromwell impression. He demands respect and deference, yet disrespects and offends with his imperial Brit superiority complex.

Substitute ‘Irish’ for blacks. Is it acceptable now Adam?

The Irish have been bored of some of you English for centuries, pal.

Wonder if Boulton will issue a 'I'm okay hun, pm me' style response to this tweet.
U OK HUN?
