Twitter has rolled out an update to it's social messaging site that means that users will now have double the amount of characters to express themselves.
Where users used to have to deal with 140 characters, they now have 280. As expected there was a big reaction to the update on Twitter:
Gold stars all round for Dublin Fire Brigade...

Prassenjit Lahiri and Ty Barber did make some good points on the downside of the development:
The soul of @Twitter was brevity. Not anymore. #280characters

Y’all
realize
that
people
promoting
stuff
with
280
characters
is
about
to
be
annoying
with
tweets
that
take
up
your
whole
timeline
just
like
this
just
so
they
know
you
see
it
and
it’s
gonna
get
old
real
quick
actually
I’m
already
tired
of
it.
STOP
IT
NOW
PLEASE
